Ionic Breeze Quadra Air Purifier

Surround air vs. the Ionic Breeze Quadra Air Purifier.

Both surround air and Ionic Breeze Quadra purifiers use negative ions and moderate amounts of ozone to purify the air. The surround air ionizer produces a much higher level of negative ions than the ionic breeze quadra.

Each ionic breeze quadra air purifier has two ionizing wires while the surround air ionizer has seventeen needlepoints (negative ion-producing electrodes). Needlepoints produce far higher negative ion levels than ionizing wires. As a result, the surround air ionizers can produce many more negative ions, making the ionic breeze quadra the weaker air purifier of the two.

The ionic breeze quadra provides more thorough coverage of a room, since it is able to emit the negative ions produced into the air, enabling the ions to travel throughout an entire room. The ionic breeze mostly contains its negative ions internally. As a result, it has the same limitation as an air filter, in that the ionic breeze quadra purifies the air that passes through it.

Vertical plates, such as those used by the ionic breeze quadra purifiers, pick up considerably more of the particulate in the air than horizontal plates, like those used by the surround air ionizer. This was proven in a 1990 research study, which found ionization to be an effective way of reducing airborne microbial levels in a dental clinic. In the study, the vertical plates picked up more, so the ionic breeze quadra is better.

The ionic breeze quadra is a tall-standing air purifier, while the surround sir ionizer is a flat, table-top unit. This allows the surround air ionizers to be placed on book shelves, entertainment centers, and other higher locations. Due to its shape, the ionic breeze quadra will need to be placed either on the floor, or perhaps on a coffee table as this is where an air purifier performs best.
